Solder Paste Print & SPI

The solder paste printing section represents one of the initial and most critical stages in electronic board manufacturing. In this phase, solder paste is meticulously applied to the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). The process begins with the board being automatically fed into the machine via a conveyor, where image processing aligns the stencil and PCB reference points for precise registration. Dual-direction squeegee blades move with tailored pressure and speed to transfer solder paste onto the PCB according to the board’s design.

Under the SPI machine’s oversight, the position, shape,78 and volume of the solder paste are automatically measured. As the quality of this stage directly impacts the success of subsequent component placement and soldering processes, it is subject to continuous monitoring.

The device identifies errors in solder paste applied by the printing machine, enabling the separation of defective boards before they enter production.

The Kohyoung 3D SPI machine is a proven control system in the electronics manufacturing industry. Verifying the position, shape, and volume accuracy of solder paste after printing is critical, as faulty printing can lead to irreversible defects in assembled products. This inspection ensures critical errors are addressed at the start of production, not at the end.

Pick & Place

In this section, electronic components are automatically placed onto the PCB. The coordinates and placement angles for each component are predefined in the machine’s preloaded production program. To ensure accurate placement despite high speeds, cameras perform real-time verification of each component and the reference points on every board during assembly. A vacuum nozzle picks and places components with high precision into their designated positions.

Our pick and place (P&P) machines, integral to our electronic board production line, are the industry-leading Fuji NXTR-S and AIMEX IIIc models. Our three P&P machines perform component placement on printed circuit boards with exceptional speed and precision.

Capable of placing up to 120,000 components per hour (CPH), these machines ensure accurate positioning in terms of coordinates, angle, and height. The NXTR-S and AIMEX IIIc models combine high-speed production with superior placement accuracy, guaranteeing consistent quality.

Reflow Oven​

The Reflow oven station is where, following component placement, solder paste or SMT adhesive is melted and solidified under a precise temperature profile to secure components to PCB pads. The greater the number of heating zones in the oven, the more accurate the temperature profile curve becomes. This precision ensures that both components and the PCB are exposed to the required temperatures for the designated duration.

In electronic board manufacturing, the curing oven is pivotal for ensuring quality and product reliability. Our SMT assembly line features Pyramax 100 curing oven, equipped with eight heating zones and one cooling zone. This system enables us to apply optimized temperature profiles for soldering components onto printed circuit boards through stable heating zones. It provides precise temperature control for lead-free and leaded soldering as well as SMT adhesive curing requirements.

The high number of heating zones in SMT curing ovens delivers significant advantages:

AOI-3D Automated Optical Inspection

The 3D AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) machine, utilized in SMT production, meticulously examines circuit boards to detect soldering and assembly errors with exceptional precision. Leveraging 3D technology, it assesses component height, alignment, and solder joints with depth perception, enabling more accurate error analysis. This enhances production quality, prevents defective products, and significantly reduces the need for manual inspection.
